On
this page you will find all important books about search engine optimization
and internet marketing. I've read all the books personally and fully SEO. If
you know a significant book about search engine optimization, which is missing
on this page, I am pleased to inform us.
1. Website
Boosting - search engine optimization, usability, website marketing (Prof.
Mario Fischer) (1st edition 2006, 450 pages, meanwhile, 2008 2nd Edition,
750 pages !)
An
excellent and highly recommended book! Even an approving quote from the
spokesman for Google is printed for reference - and that's saying something!
Worth reading because it is not only the area of "search engine
optimization" treated, but numerous other aspects of internet marketing.
For indeed, is "found" only one component of many that contribute to
the success of a website.
Very
interesting example, the chapter on "viral marketing" and
"guerrilla marketing" is. Helpful introduction to the "Google
Adwords" with numerous tips and tricks. After the huge section on search
engine optimization around 160 pages follow on "usability": eg
explains what you have to look for when texts, how to design user-friendly
forms, or how to develop a good website navigation, which offers the visitor
orientation. A collection of useful tools round off the book.
The
book is very accessible, and the numerous Internet Lost and dissuasive and
examples on how to make it not make for a very entertaining read. Highly
recommended, not only for "web workers", but also to business leaders
exploit the potential of their company website and finally want to tell a
competent word.
2.
Search engine optimization for web developers (Sebastian Erlhofer)
Highly
recommended book, easy to understand and explain in detail all the important aspects
about the topic SEO. The optimization methods are illustrated nicely with
practical code examples. From the contents:
•
Searching the Web (search engines, web directories)
•
Anatomy of the World Wide Web (HTML, Internet, TCP / IP, HTTP)
•
how search engines (crawlers, data storage, analysis, weighting models, search
process)
•
keyword research, methods of onpage and off page optimization
•
Monitoring and Controlling (log file analysis, ranking control)
New
in the 2nd Added edition are chapters on "Google - rumors, theories and
facts" "optimize TYPO3" as well. I know of no other book is
known that addresses the optimization of TYPO3, this is why this book is his
claim "for web developers" in every respect.
3.
Franzis Pocket PC: Search engine optimization (Jan Winkler)
This
is a small, beautiful paperback that only 124 pages offers a surprisingly
compact, and full-bodied sound overview about search engine optimization.
Screenshots and code examples are limited to the essential - it is more a
reader, in the beautiful language and logically shows the way through the SEO
topic.
Recommended
for those who want to quickly read up sound basic knowledge, and it can
dispense with lengthy technical details.
In
my opinion, very well suited for the following target groups:
Experienced Web authors and programmers who
want to become familiar with SEO
CEOs or managers who have a say when it
comes to search engine optimization like, eg to improve communication between
boardroom and IT-Abteilung/SEO-Agentur
all that the one under the affordable SEO
books with the best content search
4.
Internet search engines (Michael Glöggler)
The
sophisticated and technically sound Book explained in detail in the first half
of how search engines work: client-server principle, indexing the WWW Robots,
data processing and analysis, data storage in IR systems, relevance and weight
models for ranking calculation, queries about the Query Processor . In the
second part of the book then discusses the most important methods of on-page
and off-page optimization, which is always on the relevant technical principles
of the first part of reference. The book is recommended for both beginners and
"old hands", where the basic understanding of the principles in the
context of search engine optimization technology is important.
5.
Better website ranking in Google & Co. (Maurice André)
The
book of the series "Quick Start Guide" by Data Becker is actually a.
The main ranking criteria and optimization measures are described compactly, is
dispensed with deeper background knowledge. The author is probably a friend of
online tools, or at least be very many of them presented and guided their use
with Website Screenshots. The book seems suitable for new Internet users who
want to optimize their first private home, and are looking for an easy to
understand, illustrated instructions and affordable.
6.
Search engine ranking optimization (André Moritz)
This
is the more detailed version of the previously discussed book by the same
author. The book of the series' internal Internet "from Data Becker is
clearly written and enjoyable to read. All important aspects of search engine
optimization are discussed.
Critical
to note the following points:
Two questionable optimization methods are
advocated, rather than warn them: 1-pixel GIFs with keywords in the alt text,
and cloaking.
Many topics are discussed in several
places, "learn important ranking factors to know" once in the
introductory chapters, and "learn basic optimization strategies to
know" and then again in the more detailed chapters later. As a result, the
facts are to some topics not pooled, but are spread over 2-3 chapters.
In his "beloved" online
tools, limited to an author not to his opinion, the most appropriate, but is on
every subject ever before more of them, and that too with pages of screenshots,
which in a few years should no longer be current. Thus, for example presented
on 50 pages with 71 screenshots total 8 tools for keywords detection - less
would have been more here.
Overall,
still worth reading, but with around 30 euro too expensive for a book that
consists of about one third of screenshots.
7.
SEO. Professional website marketing for better ranking (Tom Alby, Stefan
Karzauninkat)
Although
the book mainly contains timelessly valid SEO know-how, in some places it reads
like a slightly dusty history book. In the 2nd In early 2007, while circulation
of more recent example Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools added - but
unfortunately missed the opportunity to clean up the book from its prehistoric
excursions into the Internet Stone Age. In 2008, I like nothing more than read
Internet dinosaurs like Fireball, Hotbot and Lycos.
Very
interesting chapter on the "Website Optimizer as part of corporate
communication" is. Overall sound written and worth reading - but Top News
somehow feels different.
8.
Search engine optimization - The fast introduction (Chung / Klünder)
The
book lives up to its claim as quick access aid unfortunately justice in any
way. The clear line is missing, the authors rather bogged down in trivialities
that for beginners are neither important nor are clearly presented. Even the
language is not convincing - rambling, inaccurate or colloquial terms contribute
more to confusion than to understanding.
E.G.
is the chapter on the title page with titled "The correct title," and
the title tag in the text several times referred to as the headline! By
contrast, such an important HTML headings (h1-h6) are mentioned elsewhere only
in passing.
- The chapter on web hosting: confusing
- The chapter on on-site optimization: very poor
- The chapter on search engine submission: content wrong or unnecessary
- The chapter on web catalog application: partly outdated
Slightly
better is the part of the website marketing from Chapter 10 as well as the
chapter on follow-up and Google punishment. That makes up for deficiencies in
the first part but not more.
Conclusion:
not recommended. The best book for a quick start for me is search engine
optimization Jan Winkler - it costs way compared to only half of this book!
9.
Search Engine Optimization for Dummies (Peter Kent)
The
book contains much that is important and Correct to search engine optimization.
Some getting used to, however, is the writing style of the authors. Peter Kent
is an e-commerce consultant from the USA - dynamic, talkative and always
try to understand his unsuspecting audience. This example reads to like this:
"Welcome
to the German edition of Search Engine Optimization for Dummies. Why in all the
world need this book [...] you have a problem. You want people to visit their
website. [...] Well, I have some good news [...]. "
On
Amazon.com (USA), the book is praised enthusiastically - on Amazon.de, however
there is not a single review. IMHO not undeserved:
SEO for beginners but all topics are
extensively described, accurate and understandable - the total wealth of facts
and words being missed out a continuous thread. Kent operates a topic after the
other, it often repeats itself, and also engages themes like anticipating
("Then I shall deal with in more detail in Chapter XY on"). For
beginners, there are too much information at once, the structured enough and
are weighted in importance.
For
experienced SEOs, the book offers no groundbreaking new findings. To refresh or
as vacation reading, it would be the information content but quite suitable:
nerves but the redundant-garrulous explanations and encourage to scroll over
entire sections. A more compact representation of the book would have done
well.
10.
Search Engine Optimization - Website Marketing for developers (Daniel Koch)
The
book of the series "Programmer's Choice" of the publisher
Addison-Wesley is explicitly directed at professional web developers (slogan:
"The number of professionals for professionals"). And in fact, it is
hardly suitable for beginners, as some basic knowledge is required to in order
to follow along can.
But
the book is for web developers only not recommended. Because the book lacks the
red thread, a logical structure, and not least our own handwriting. One gets
the impression that the author compiled a wealth of facts and quotations from
various sources and then, as best I could, grouped into chapters. For browsing
or skimming in the bookstore that's ok, but a coherent representation of a
large and complex topic I imagine otherwise.
In
terms of content, unfortunately, some things are presented inaccurate:
E.G. is spoken of search engine submission,
where the entry is actually meant in Web directories.
Elsewhere there are false generalizations
such as "So it is a fact that search engines dynamically generated pages
do not like." (It is true that search engines have problems with pages
whose URLs contain many parameters. Contrast, dynamic pages indexed easily with
few or no parameters!)
Another totally baseless claim that search
engines supposedly not inline CSS styles "like" is. Well, funny that
can even be found on google.de inline styles ... This means then probably that
Google itself can not stand.
In general search engines are presented
quite human: much "love" they do not, some pages they have
"naked poison" other "they bite their teeth out."
There is also criticism that many Web
developers "use today HTML elements from a bygone time." Well, here
also provides the Google website to produce evidence that you can be successful
with <font> tags on the web.
Finally, this section completely
pointlessly about multilingual websites. Multilingual websites are now indexed
or not? Meta keywords are now ignored or not?
The answer remains the author guilty.
Conclusion:
29.95 euros, the cost of this book, you better invested in the best-selling
website-boosting by Mario Fischer, who has a lot more for the same price.
Other
Books
11.
Search engine optimization on the example of Google (Philip Wiedmaier)
This
book is the author's thesis written as part of his studies of Information
Management at the Stuttgart
Media University.
Content, it is a summary of what is already known, as evidenced in 375
footnotes with source indication. Among them are often known books of Erlhofer
and Glöggler.
The
thesis summarizes the issue with reference to the primary literature cleanly
structured and easy to read together. Own handwriting (eg personal, resulting
from practical knowledge) is missing, but nonetheless, the book would be
suitable in principle as good SEO implementation - if it would have a fair
market price.
The
book costs 59 euros namely new! In words: nine-and-fifty! The price suggests a
thick and detailed tome - instead, I held in my Ebay auction a small paperback
book of 130 pages in my hands.
Now
I am told that for scientific papers (dissertations, theses and habilitation)
because of the low pressure circulation prize of this magnitude is quite
normal. The high price has not as its cause in the megalomania of the author,
as I first suspected spontaneously. ;-)
However,
this price is market-driven in any way. A regular way, the content at a
reasonable price would be 9.90 or 12.90 euros. Because of the poor
price-performance ratio is the initial purchase of this book, therefore, not
recommended without fail!
12.
Learning DVD search engine optimization (Stefan Fischer countries)
Not
a book but an educational video on the topic: have about 90 short Flash movies
from a total of 5 1/2 hours long an introduction to the basics of search engine
optimization. Here one looks virtually the author "over the shoulder"
as the Google Search performs websites calls indicating the source code, tools
installed or performs optimizations.
Preparation and content of the DVD here is
intended primarily for SEO beginners, and benefit in this target group
especially to those who are into computer things more likely to be
inexperienced, and therefore most of multimedia learning.
Experienced computer users with great
apprehension latter come faster with a collection of facts in a book to your
destination - is contained in a 3-minute movies hard facts can be summarized in
a few sentences usually.
For experienced SEO professionals, the DVD
is nothing new.
The
DVD-ROM runs on computers with DVD-ROM drive from Win98 or Mac OS X 10.1, a
shortened version of the format DVD-Video can also be viewed using a DVD player
on TV.
