Search Engines Tips | SEO

SEO means search engine optimization. But actually, for what?
Here are the market shares of the major search engines:

        First Google> 85%
        Second Yahoo ~ 3%
        Third MSN ~ 2.5%
        4th T-Online ~ 2%
        5th AOL ~ 1.5%

(4 +5 place their data sourced from Google, whose market share thus amounts to about 90%!)

Search Engine Optimization

You see, basically it is currently only on a search engine, namely Google! You can find more tips on Google search engine.
Forget search engines record software that allows you to submit your website to 10,000 search engines. 99.9% of them are virtually meaningless, a search engine listing is therefore a waste of time.
In fact, the search engine submission of your site is not really necessary. If your site is linked at least once somewhere, they will sooner or later show up all by itself in the search engine index, without any search engine submission. Because a search engine bot automatically follows all links that it finds. A Search Engine Submission hurts nothing, but is basically a waste of time. Much more important is the entry in directories.
Be careful how many result Hits Report the major search engines for relevant keywords. The more there are, the harder it is to achieve a good ranking (in the top 5 or 10 hits). Here is a very rough estimate:
to 50,000 hits: relatively easy, even without special optimization
50,000 to 500,000 hits: more difficult, but with the appropriate know-how, no problem
500.000 - 5 million hits: hard work, long-term quite possible
more than 5 million hits: hard to predict, with know-how, patience, lots of patience and a little luck in individual cases
Of course, other factors also play a role:
How relevant is your website for this issue?
How often it is linked from other websites?
        Are also optimized competitor sites?
What are topic relevance and link popularity of the competition?

Meta Tags Tips | SEO

The meta-data can be found in the head of every page. There can document information and instructions for Web servers, browsers and search engines are housed. For search engines play only three meta-data involved:

          <head>
       First <title> ... </ title>
       Second <meta name="description" content="...">
       Third <meta name="robots" content="index,follow">
          ...
          </ Head>
By far the most important is the title element!
The page title is displayed directly in the search results, as a click-able title of each search result.
The page title is shown when browsing the open browser windows, either in the bar at the top or in the tab of the respective tabs.
When a bookmark, the page title is stored as description.
For these reasons, the page titles for search engines and visitors alike to be meaningful.

Give each page a unique title, the domain, company or website name to the context of the page makes clear

Search Engine Optimization

compact the contents of the page, readable and attractive, taking into account relevant keywords describing this page

Good: Butcher Schmidt, Hamburg: Special Offers sausage

    Bad: Page 9

But do not overdo it by cluttering the title with keywords. It makes a bad impression on visitors and can also be evaluated by search engines as spam.

Bad: Butchers Hamburg Elbe North sausage salami ham sausage shop online shop

Furthermore, you should avoid slogans, greetings, and other non-relevant search engine noise words.

Bad: Welcome to the home of butchery Schmidt - quality and tradition since 1963

In addition, the page title not be longer than 60-70 characters, as long titles are truncated and not fully displayed in the search results.
The meta description is often displayed in the results of search engines as a description of the hit. You should describe in 1-2 factual records (about 150 characters), the content of the website or the content of such bottom, thus making the curious visitor to the site. Optimal meta description increases the click-through rate.

It is important that every bottom gets an individual meta description. In formulating the main keywords should each page included in the text, possibly supplemented by important general keywords.

In Google's webmaster blog there is an article with excellent tips on meta description. There is, incidentally, that the meta description does not affect ranking again.

The meta robots statement containing "index, follow" means that you can tell the search engine bot to index the current page and to follow all the links it contains. Since this is the bot but automatically makes, you can omit this statement also. She is really only useful if you want to prohibit the robot to index the current page or to follow all the links (with noindex and nofollow)
A relatively new meta tag is the nofollow attribute to external links, which allows you to search engines prohibit the pursuit of individual links.
Create a file in robots.txt. It is not relevant for the search engine ranking, but for the inclusion of your site in the search engine index.
    <meta name="keywords" content="...">

The meta keywords are considered by only a few search engines. Yahoo should be the case, the effect on the ranking but is expected to be small. Market leader Google evaluates the meta keywords is not enough. Therefore, my advice is to leave out the words completely.

If you use the meta tag for completeness nevertheless, you should enter there but by no means keywords that have nothing to do with the page content! Only enter relevant search terms, you are limited to the most important (5-10), and separate the words with commas.
With the also counting on the meta-information Geo tags can tell search engines to the geographical location of your website.
