Page structure & file names

Each side should get their own names
For effective search engine optimization, you should ensure that any bottom of your website receives its own name. Ideally, you have invested in the most important keyword in the bottom of the corresponding file name. One side should not be referred to simply as "page1.html", but for example with the name "aquarium-technik.html".
As you can see from this example, there should be more criteria to designate a base are separated by a dash.
For directories you proceed in accordance with the above-mentioned techniques to. This allows you to define multiple areas of your website and best of each other also ensure that the search engines get plenty of fodder to keywords. An optimally structured bottom, which is located in the corresponding directory could look like this:
www.domain.com / aquariums / bauanleitung.html.

Search Engine Optimization

Caution for umlauts and special characters!
A major problem in web pages today are still special characters. For this reason, you should not use the name of your file name. Also problematic can be capital letters and spaces. Which also should be avoided if possible in the names.
Do not overdo it with the keywords
Some webmasters still make the mistake of optimizing the file and page structure to excessive for the search engines. In this case, then come out of such strange entities as follows:
www.domain.com/ aquarium / build aquarium / aquarium-bauanleitung.html
This is clearly too much of a good thing. The search engine could provide in such a page structure your entire website in suspected spam and thus devalue accordingly. Also on the visitor side effect of such structure not exactly reputable. Do not overdo it, and therefore not put to a meaningful structure of your directories and sub-pages.
Avoid duplicate directories and URL's
Particularly in dynamic websites, which were implemented using PHP, it often happens that a bottom or a directory is accessed via different URLs. This could for example be the case when, in addition to the actual website for a printable version of the visitor is held.
Such multiple contents are to be achieved in terms of search engine optimization still relatively poor. Consider using the appropriate techniques to ensure that only one URL for each subpage of your website is used. This can be done for example with the previously described technique of the "mod_rewrite" module, or the fact that the various pages on the indication "noindex" in the meta tags to exclude from being indexed by the search engine.
Set up a sub-domain
If your website deals with issues that clearly distinguished from each other, you should outsource to independent sub-domains. The reason is that the search engines treat sub-domains generally similar to its own domain and therefore higher rate than a simple directory.
In the sub-domains, you can also turn to accommodate the most important keywords for each area.
Furthermore, the use of sub-domains also recommends that if the structure of the corresponding web page is very convoluted and has a particularly large number of sub-pages. In this case, the search engines do often struggle to index all existing directories and pages. Split on these and distribute them to appropriate scale sub domains, you circumvent this risk generally and ensure that the various pages indexed faster and more reliable.
Such an approach could be recommended even if you later install additional features to your website such as an online store, a forum or a blog.
Beware of restructuring
When you remodel or expand your online presence, it is often the case that individual directories or sub-pages later are no longer reachable. This is both in terms of search engine optimization as well as bad for human visitors to the website, in case of doubt gets an error message.
You should therefore change in restructuring the website the file name and the corresponding navigation or at least provided with a forwarding.
Creating a Sitemap
As mentioned above, can occur with very large and extensive websites to problems with the indexing of individual directories and sub-pages. One way out of this dilemma is the creation of a so-called Sitemap.
This is a special bottom, on which there are links to all the other sub-pages within the website. Visits of the search engine robots that bottom, it is made easy for him to visit all the other bases of the corresponding website. He no longer has to laboriously wade through the entire file structure and navigation, but has all the things the website offers, clearly listed on one page.
