Which keywords should choose

On my blog I have often written about finding good keywords. Example keyword list. The aim is often underestimated. I can therefore better turn. What happens if you're optimizing for the wrong words?

Right. You get high rankings for keywords that yield nothing. Is also agreed upon that it is often much time and effort has cost. Conclusion, everything is for nothing. In this article I explain why it is important the right keywords to "choose" and how you can best do.

What are the "right" keywords?

The "right keywords" are often misinterpreted. It are not the keywords that bring the most traffic. Because what good are not buying what traffic? So it's about conversions. What keywords have the highest number of conversions?
For example :

Laptop ----------4 times
online Laptop----4 times

As you can see above would optimize both words equal yield. Mind you, these are fictional conversion figures and based on my experience. The above is quite logical. The second query is much more focused. At first one can also look for a shop in their neighborhood to buy a laptop.

So now we know that the number of searches for a particular keyword is not a criterion. It revolves around the number of conversions (sales) as a keyword yields.

The second keyword has another big advantage, just look below:

Laptop ----------high
online Laptop---- low

The competition on the second keyword is much lower. This also means that it is a lot easier to get on top of this keyword! In other words, it takes much less time, money and effort!

How to find the right keywords?

We will therefore have to find out which keywords are converting for sure. This may include the following: Google Analytic's and Google Adwords.

Google Analytic's makes it possible to "goals" set.The goal will be different at each site (eg sent quotation or an order).

When you enter Google Analytic's this goal you have set from then exactly which sources and keywords for the conversions have created! In other words, now we know the exact conversion rate per keyword.

Inside Google Adwords (you do not know what this means look here: Google Adwords advertising.) Can also be called conversions. Also you can see exactly which keywords to conversions made.

Conclusion

Not just start with search engine optimization but make sure you first find out which keywords are converting for sure. So you know that the time you spend on search engine optimization is also useful is used!

Important Notes

In the above article are three important observations to make. First of all, this applies particularly for websites article in which it is possible to (hard) to measure conversions. If you have a website just for the number of page views (publishing model) you may prefer the most number of searches. Yet you would for other "conversions" to watch. Think "time on site" and "page views" for a particular keyword.

Secondly, there is also something to be said for the fact that when you first start optimizing for "buy laptop", and that once successful, it is a lot easier to also optimize for "buy laptop online". Fact is that it will last much longer and much more expensive (in the short to medium term). But you have a lot of time and money than you would for the latter option can go.

Finally, you should also take into account that some terms can be combined. If you have to spend a little more you would choose to go directly for both "buy laptop" and "laptop online buy" to go.
